RIVERDALE, N.Y. - With summer approaching, eight Manhattan College baseball players are appearing in NCAA-sanctioned summer leagues across the country.
Sean Abbate (North Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League - New York Atlantics)
A rising junior, Abbate has yet to appear in a game for the Atlantics ... the Levittown, N.Y. native appeared in a team-high 19 games this spring for Manhattan College ... he struck out 25 batters in 30 2/3 innings and earned two saves.
Andrew Gorecki (Hamptons Collegiate League - Southampton Breakers)
Playing in his native Long Island, Gorecki has made seven starts for Southampton so far this season ... in a 10-5 win on June 9, Gorecki reached base four times, including a home run and four RBI.
Chris Kalousdian (Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League - Elmira Pioneers)
Kalousdian, a rising senior, has been one of Elmira's top hitters during the early part of the season ... in five games, he is hitting .409 with two doubles, a triple and five runs batted in while patrolling left field.
Chris Liquori, Chris Reynolds (Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League - Monmouth Monarchs)
Part of Manhattan's rising sophomore battery, Liquori has pitched in three games for the Monarchs ... in two appearances, he hasn't allowed a run and carries a 3.00 ERA on the season ... in nine innings, he has struck out five.
Behind the plate, Reynolds is batting .353 over six games ... he has three multiple-hit games and has helped lead the Monarchs to a 7-0-1 record through their first eight games.
Michael Martin, Joe McClennan (Coastal Plain League - Gastonia Grizzlies)
Martin, a rising junior, started the season opener for Gastonia in impressive fashion ... he went seven superb innings, allowing two runs to earn the victory ... Martin walked just one batter and struck out eight ... his latest appearance came in relief on June 13 when he struck out two in a hitless inning of relief.
Also a rising junior, McClennan appeared in six games, batting .200 with an RBI before unfortunately suffering an injury in his latest game.
Brendan Slattery (Futures League - Pittsfield Suns)
A rising senior, Slattery had a tremendous debut for Pittsfield on June 8 ... in that game, he went 5-for-5 and drove in five runs in a 10-0 rout ... he also caught all nine innings behind the dish.
