STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Friday afternoon, the Manhattan College men's indoor track & field team returned to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Seahawk Shootout. The Jaspers sent primarily field event athletes and sprinters to their final competition before a month-long break.
Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia), who won the long jump at the Metro Holiday Season Opener last weekend, earned the victory in the triple jump. He got out to a distance of 13.87 meters (45 feet, 6¼ inches). In the long jump, Bobby Gebhard (Saddle River, NJ) finished second with a mark of 6.53 m (21'5¼). Gebhard also placed third in the 60 meter hurdles (8.73).
Gustave Menocal (Bronx, NY) was first in the weight throw (15.93 m, 52'3¼) and Stefan Hoeller (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) took second in the pole vault (4.35 m, 14'3¼). Meanwhile, Anthony Hall (Mountainville, NY) grabbed third place in the 60 meters (7.14) and Justin Alleyne (New Rochelle, NY) ended up fourth in the 200 meters (50.59).
While most of the women's team was given the weekend off, Jade Fern (Hawera, New Zealand) took part in the long jump. She finished sixth with a leap of 4.77 m (15'7¾).
Manhattan will next be in action on Jan. 15 for the Spartan Regional Preview, which will also take place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
