RIVERDALE, NY – For the second straight time to start the indoor season, a member of the Manhattan College men's indoor track & field team has been honored as Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Field Performer of the Week. Gustave Menocal (Bronx, NY) was selected for his efforts at the Seahawk Shootout last Friday.
Menocal set personal bests in both the weight throw and shot put at the Seahawk Shootout. He won the weight throw competition with a mark of 15.93 meters (52 feet, 3¼ inches), while his 13.74 m (45'1) toss was good for seventh place in the shot put.
This is the first MAAC weekly award of Menocal's career, and he joins Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) (Dec. 8) as Manhattan's MAAC Field Performer of the Week recipients this season. In addition, Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY) was the Women's Track Performer of the Week on Dec. 8.
The Jaspers are in the midst of a month-long break from competition. Manhattan returns to action at the Spartan Regional Preview from the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island on Jan. 15.
