RIVERDALE, NY – For the second week in a row, sophomore Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) of the Manhattan College men's cross country team has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Runner of the Week. He finished third overall at the UAlbany Invitational on Saturday, running 8000 meters in 25:11.7, as the Jaspers placed second in the team standings.
Khaghani becomes the first men's runner to receive multiple MAAC honors this season. He's also the first Jasper to earn consecutive MAAC Runner of the Week nods since Mikael Rojeras on Sept. 10-17, 2013.
Overall, this is the fourth MAAC Runner of the Week selection for the Jaspers this season. Nick Matson (Clifton Park, NY) was recognized on Sept. 14 and Kaitlyn Smith (Effort, PA) took home women's honors on Sept. 28.
The Jaspers will take this weekend off before heading to Orlando, FL, for the MAAC Championships on Oct. 29. The men's race begins at 8 a.m., followed by the women at 9 a.m. Both races will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
