RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Manhattan College head baseball coach Kevin Leighton revealed today the addition of Jason Spaulding to his coaching staff. Spaulding comes to Riverdale following a decorated coaching career at the collegiate, high school and American Legion level for the past eight years. Spaulding will assist in the daily operations of the baseball office, including recruiting.
“I am very excited that Jason will be joining our staff this year,” stated Leighton. “He brings a wealth of baseball knowledge to our program and has experience coaching and playing at the Division I level.”
Spaulding, a native of Swanton, Vt., lettered four years and served two as team captain at the University of Vermont. A right handed-pitcher, Spaulding finished his career as the school's all-time leader in appearances, while tying for fifth in victories (15) and in the top-10 for strikeouts and innings pitched.
Among the many highlights of his coaching career, Spaulding helped guide the Essex (Vt.) American Legion team to five state titles and a berth in the Northeast Regional Championship in 2004. Over this five year span, his squads compiled a 67-0 overall record in Vermont. Spaulding has also served as an assistant coach for Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Vt.
