RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College senior guard Michelle Pacheco (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Pacheco led the Lady Jaspers with 21 points in Manhattan's 74-53 victory over Siena on Friday night. She shared the honors with Marist's Rachele Fitz.
Pacheco's 21 points were a game-high, and marked her sixth 20-point effort of the season. She went 9-for-14 from the field in the contest, including 6-for-10 in the second half. Pacheco also tallied five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot against Siena. For the season, she leads the team and ranks third in the MAAC in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game.
This marks the first time in her career that Pacheco has earned MAAC weekly honors. She is the first Manhattan player to be named MAAC Player of the Week since Kelly Regan shared the honors on Feb. 23 last season for her 29-point outing against Marist.
Pacheco and the Lady Jaspers (11-11, 6-5 MAAC) are back in action on Monday night, when they visit Saint Peter's (9-13, 5-6 MAAC) at 7 p.m. Manhattan returns home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup with Niagara (9-13, 6-5 MAAC). It will be Manhattan's "Pink Zone" game for breast cancer awareness.
