Stephen Dombroski Named Assistant Athletic Director

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College athletic director Robert Byrnes announced on Thursday the promotion of Stephen Dombroski to assistant athletic director for communication & marketing, effective immediately. Dombroski will continue to oversee the sports information operation and takes on athletic marketing responsibilities.

Dombroski previously served as the sports information director coming to Manhattan in January of 2008. Prior to Manhattan, Dombroski was the assistant sports information director at his alma mater Siena College, beginning that role in August of 2006. Dombroski, a four year letterwinner on the Saints' lacrosse team, earned a bachelor's degree of science in marketing & management with a minor in psychology from Siena in 2004. In 2006, Dombroski earned a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Wagner College.

"In my 23 years at Manhattan College I have seen the field of athletic communication transform tremendously," explained Byrnes '68 who returned to his alma mater as athletic director in 1988. "This new title better reflects the constantly changing roles in the sports information area, along with our ongoing initiative to integrate marketing and branding to enhance our external athletic relationships."

Dombroski will continue to oversee the public relations for Manhattan's 19 Division I athletic programs and 300+ student-athletes. His duties still include managing event operations, maintenance of the official athletic department website (GoJaspers.com) and serving as the liaison with the media. Dombroski has recently taken on additional administrative responsibilities and will now coordinate the marketing and promotional efforts of the department.

An active member of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), Dombroski has also assisted with the media relations of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship for the past eight years (2003-2010) and the Women's Basketball Championship in Trenton, N.J. in 2006. Dombroski also serves on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's & Women's Tennis committee and is a member of the MAAC Technology committee.
