LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Four Manhattan Jasper Men's Soccer players were honored as members of the Metro Atlantic (MAAC) All-Academic Team on Saturday night at an awards banquet during the 2011 MAAC Championships.
Sophomores Daniel Festa and Christopher Lands were joined by seniors Christopher Holihan and Deia Nassar as exemplary student athletes along with 66 other men's soccer players in the conference.
In order to be considered for the honor, a student must have completed two semesters with their institution and have at least a 3.20 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Iona College led all MAAC teams with 14 total members.
The Jaspers (4-14-1) will partake in semi-final action against the #2 Gaels of Iona at 1:30 p.m. on Sun., Nov. 6 at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The winner will play the winner of #1 Fairfield/#4 Niagara in the finals on Mon., Nov. 7 at noon.
