BOSTON - The Manhattan College men's indoor track & field team had a good day on Saturday.  Albert Johnson III (Painted Post, N.Y.) won the silver medal in the long jump, while Greg Perrier (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Kevin D'Emic (Rockaway Point, N.Y.) both advanced to the final of the 800 meters on day one of the IC4A Championships from Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.

Johnson's season-best leap of 7.59 meters (24 feet, 11 inches) was just four centimeters behind the winner, Corey Crawford of Rutgers.  The Jaspers added another team point with Anastas Papazov's (Balchik, Bulgaria) eighth-place effort in the weight throw.  His best mark was 18.34 m (60'2).

In the 800, Perrier clocked an impressive 1:50.91, the fifth-best time of the heats.  With that personal-best effort, Perrier qualified for the U.S. Junior Outdoor Championships in June.  D'Emic also advanced to the final of the 800 with a time of 1:50.97.  Perrier and D'Emic then joined with Salim Corbin (Patterson, N.J.) and Mikael Rojeras (Sala, Sweden) on the Jaspers' 4 x 800 meter relay squad that just missed advancing to the finals by 0.04 seconds.  With their time of 7:37.21, the quartet secured a place in the event at the IC4A Outdoor Championships.

At the women's ECAC Championships, which are being held across town at the Reggie Lewis Center, Manhattan currently has six team points after Andrea Nyback (Koping, Sweden) took third place in the pentathlon.  Nyback tallied 3566 points in the five-event competition.  In addition, Cara Rostant (Valley Stream, N.Y.) advanced to the final of the 200 meters after posting a time of 24.83 seconds.

Rostant, Perrier and D'Emic will all contest their finals on Sunday.  Also competing at the IC4A Championships on Sunday will be Trevell Moxey (Lansdale, Pa.) in the triple jump; Colin Quirke (Los Gatos, Calif.), Roman Ewald (Olching, Germany) and Rokas Kirlys (Kamaji, Lithuania) in the shot put; and Felix Siljeback-Larsen (Vasteras, Sweden) in day two of the heptathlon.  Karolin Wagner (Ribbesbuettel, Germany) will also be in action at the ECAC Championships in the pole vault.
