RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College freshman pitcher Michael Scarinci earned his second MAAC Rookie of the Week Award on Monday becoming the only player to be a repeat winner this season. Scarinci delivered a complete game two-hitter on Sunday that helped lift Manhattan to a 7-0 victory at Canisius and clinch the MAAC series. Scarinci carried a perfect game into the sixth inning as he sat down 15 batters in order. He finished with four strikeouts en route to his first career complete game shutout.

Scarinci faced the minimum 21 batters of the seven inning affair and he did not allow the Golden Griffs to reach second base in the entire contest. Two infield singles in the sixth and seventh innings was the only blemish on his stat line. The right hander from Nanuet, N.Y. forced Canisius into 13 ground outs, two double plays and he did not walk a batter. With the win, Scarinci improved to 3-1 in MAAC contests.

Manhattan returns to action on Wednesday when the Jaspers visit Albany for a 3:30 p.m. contest. The Jaspers continue the road series this weekend when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas for a four game set at TCU. The Jaspers and Horned Frogs will kick off the series on Friday at 7:30 p.m. eastern.
