RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan men's basketball assistants Scott Padgett and Rashon Burno are moving on from Riverdale after accepting elevated coaching positions at other NCAA Division I institutions. Padgett was recently named Associate Head Coach at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., joining the staff of first year head coach Bennie Seltzer. Burno is headed to Gainesville, Fla. to work as an assistant coach for two-time national championship head coach Billy Donovan at the University of Florida. Manhattan is in the midst of a national search for their coaching replacements.

"The loss of Scott is one that will be tough to replace, but we are very happy for his future. Obviously, it is a step closer to his ultimate goal which is becoming a Division I head coach," said head coach Steve Masiello. "Rashon was an invaluable part of our rebuilding and will be virtually impossible to replace. As hard as it was to see him go, it was an opportunity he could not pass up going to work for one of the best coaches in the business in Billy Donovan."

Padgett and Burno helped Manhattan to the biggest turnaround in the nation under Masiello. Manhattan posted a 21-13 overall record, a 15-win improvement against Division I opponents that was tops in the country. The 21 wins were the second most in program history by a Manhattan first year head coach, standing only behind Fran Fraschilla who finished the 1992-93 campaign with 23 wins. Masiello guided the Jaspers to their first postseason appearance since 2006 and a victory in their first round contest at Albany in the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
