Taylor Sewitt Named MAAC Co-Pitcher of the Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College senior Taylor Sewitt was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after a dominant effort at TCU on Friday. Sewitt stifled the Horned Frogs for nine innings as he struck out seven batters and limited the Mountain West Conference power to only three hits. He shared the weekly award with Fairfield pitcher Scott Warwick who tossed a four-hit seven inning complete game victory against Canisius.

Sewitt stepped up to the challenge in his second career start as he allowed only one run to the Horned Frogs on a sacrifice fly. The right hander from Highland Mills, N.Y. retired nine of the first 10 batters that he faced and yielded only three walks before turning the ball over to the bullpen in extra innings with the contest locked at one run apiece. Sewitt was only two strikeouts shy of his career-high, which he set on April 11 posting nine strikeouts in a victory over Fordham.

Manhattan returns to action on Tuesday when the Jaspers travel to Fordham for a 7 p.m. contest.
