Men's Golf Places 11th at Rutgers Invitational

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's golf team finished in 11th place out of 15 schools at the Rutgers Men's Golf Invitational this weekend, held at Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J.

Senior Matthew Creamer again led the Jaspers as their top shooter, placing 14th, with a combined score of 222 including a 70 in the first of his three rounds. Freshman Michael Giannico finished in a tie for 35th after shooting a 72 in his second round, but stumbled with a 79 in his final outing for a total score of 229.

Paul Toohey bounced back from a tough second round 83 to end his tournament with a 76 for a three round total of 236 while Chris Calabro and James Edgeworth shot combined scores of 238 and 248 respectively.

The Jaspers team total of 922 was good for 11th place, and was just three strokes shy of a top-10 finish. USC Upstate took the team title with a total score of 874 over the three rounds.

Manhattan will return to action at the Dowling College September Shootout on Fri. Sept., 21 in Riverhead, N.Y. at Long Island National Golf Club.
