Huntoon, Volovski Earn MAAC Weekly Honors

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Senior Kelsey Huntoon (Monroe, Mich.) and freshman Sydney Volovski (Oswego, Ill.) of the Manhattan College volleyball team were recognized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Monday for their play in the Jaspers' three matches last week.  Huntoon was named MAAC Libero of the Week, while Volovski earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week.

Huntoon averaged 6.73 digs per set in the three matches.  She had 16 digs in the 3-0 victory over Rider on Wednesday, then tallied 28 digs and three assists on Saturday, as Manhattan beat Niagara for the first time in seven tries.  On Sunday against Canisius, Huntoon reached the 30-dig plateau for the second time this season, contributing 30 digs, three assists and a service ace.  She currently ranks sixth in the MAAC with 5.18 digs per set.

Volovski slammed 3.18 kills per set while hitting a combined .318 against Rider, Niagara and Canisius.  She hit .500 in the win over Rider, pounding 11 kills without an error in 22 attempts.  Volovski also had three blocks, three digs and two assists in that match.  She followed up that performance with a 15-kill effort (on .355 hitting) in the win over Niagara.  Volovski ended the week by posting nine kills and three blocks against Canisius on Sunday.  During Manhattan's six-match homestand, she hit a combined .296 and tallied 2.91 kills per set.

The Jaspers (9-9, 4-3 MAAC) take on Rider (7-8, 1-5 MAAC) for the second time in 10 days, this time on the road, at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
