Women's Lacrosse Honored for Excellence

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - At halftime of the Manhattan men's basketball team's game versus Niagara this past Sunday, the 2012 Jaspers women's lacrosse squad was honored for it's achievements both on and off the field.

Sophomore goalkeeper Christina Fiorinelli was recognized for being the NCAA leader in ground balls per game. Her 3.79 average marked the first time in program history a Jasper led the nation in a statistical category .

The rest of the 2012 team was honored for their excellence in the classroom last year. Manhattan was one of 42 teams in the country to have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, earning Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Squad honors.

The Jaspers will open up their 2013 home schedule on Fri., Feb. 22 when they host Wagner at 6 p.m. at Gaelic Park
