PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Manhattan College rowing team sent two squads the 75th Anniversary Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. on Friday. Of the two teams, the women's pair without (2-) qualified for the semifinals to be held on Saturday.
Bow Kelly Barnes and stroke Catherine Dreyer finished third in their heat with a time of 8:23.737 to advance to the next round. The two were able to streak past Villanova's squad in the final 750n meters to qualify, finishing behind teams from Drexel and Clarkson.
The Jaspers also saw strong performances from the men's four with coxswain team as they finished sixth in their heat with a time of 8:00.139.
Manhattan participated in the very first Dad Vail Regatta and is one of eight founding members. They will be participating in the memorabilia exhibit and honor the founding members on Sat., May 11, prior to the finals. The other founding members are AmericanInternationalCollege, BostonUniversity, DartmouthUniversity, MariettaCollege, RichmondUniversity, RollinsCollege and RutgersUniversity.
