Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this year.
Pena, who was also named ECAC Rookie of the Week, batted .500 (9-for-18) last week, including .545 over three games against Marist, with four runs, two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and three walks while posting a .944 slugging percentage and a .522 OBP.
The Miami native began his big week with a single in win at Army West Point before following that up by going 2-for-3 with a double, run and two walks at Hofstra. In game one at Marist, Pena also went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a solo home run and a walk. In the nightcap, he crushed his team-leading fifth home run. Pena then capped his big weekend by going 3-for-5 with a career-high four RBI.
On the year, Pena is hitting .339 while pacing the squad in doubles (12), home runs (5), RBI (30), slugging percentage (.568) and multi-RBI games (10).
Pena and the rest of his Jasper teammates return to action on Tuesday, April 19 against NYIT with first pitch slated for 6:30 pm.
