RIVERDALE, NY – For the fifth consecutive season, the Manhattan College volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Jaspers were one of a record 762 teams, including 131 NCAA Division I women's squads, that was recognized.
“It's quite an honor to receive this award again,” Head Coach Mark Jones said. “The players take a lot of pride in their academics, and it's nice to see their hard work rewarded.”
All high school and college teams that maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher are eligible for the award. The Jaspers posted a team GPA of 3.47 for the spring term, which was the third-highest among all Manhattan programs.
A league-high six Jaspers were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team in 2015. In addition, Jade Gray (Boise, ID) was selected to the Academic All-District Second Team.
