RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Ondya Morgan (New Brunswick, N.J./Linden) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Manhattan College women's basketball program for the 2009-10 season, Head Coach John Olenowski announced today.
A 5-foot-6 guard, Morgan scored 1,125 career points at Linden High School and was named Second Team All-Union County after both her junior and senior seasons. ESPN Rise magazine selected her as a “top player,” and she also earned a fourth team all-area selection. As a senior, Morgan was chosen to the Watchung Conference Top 10 and the All-Union County Top 5. In addition, she was the Watchung Conference Female Scholar-Athlete in 2008-09.
“Ondya is an outstanding student-athlete who adds quickness and great defensive ability to our program,” Olenowsi said. “She is also a very versatile offensive player who can play the one or the two equally well. We are thrilled to have signed such an outstanding young lady.”
Along with Maggie Blair (Briarcliff, N.Y.) and Toni-Ann Lawrence (Elmont, N.Y.), who both committed during the NCAA's early signing period, Morgan will join the program as a freshman in 2009-10. They join a roster that returns three starters and loses only two players to graduation
