Riverdale, N.Y. -- It will be a summer of championship competition for Jasper track and field competitors -- current, incoming and alums.
At the upcoming World University Games to be held July 2-11 in Belgrade, Serbia, four Jaspers will be competing for the host country. Rising senior Milos Vuckovic will be running in the middle distance event, recent grad Milan Jotanovic will compete in the shot put, rising senior Kosta Randjic will compete in the long and triple jumps and rising senior Seid Mujanovic will take part in the hammer throw.
Meanwhile, at the upcoming Pan Am Junior Championships to be held July 31-August 2 in Port-of-Spain Trinidad, Jasper rising sophomore Albert Johnson III will represent the U.S. in the triple jump. He earned this honor this past weekend by placing second at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Oregon.
Additionally, at the upcoming European Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships, incoming freshman Andrea Nyback will represent Sweden in the heptathlon, while fellow incoming freshman Clare Fitzgerald will throw the shot put for Ireland
And at the upcoming World Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held in Berlin August 15 through 23, Manhattan alum Thomas Jacob Freeman will represent the U.S. in the hammer throw, while Jotanovic will represent Serbia in the shot put and alum Aliann Pompey will run the 400 meters for Guyana.
