Wappingers Falls, NY - Fueled by a big second inning, LIU Brooklyn posted an 11-3 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at Dutchess Stadium.

The Blackbirds improve to 12-17 while the Jaspers fall to 9-25.

Senior Jason Patnick (Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley) went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run to pace an eight-hit Manhattan attack while senior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) and sophomore Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canturbury Prep) each reached safely twice. 

On the mound, sophomore RHP Ryan Takacs (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) was impressive in striking out five over 3.0 innings of relief. Freshman RHP Nick Massa (Shrewsbury, NJ / Red Bank Regional), classmate RHP T.J. Stuart (Milford, CT / Bishop Foran) and senior RHP Shawn Kanwisher (Washington Township, NJ / St. Joseph Regional) each also recorded scoreless innings out of the pen.

LIU Brooklyn had eight different players hit safely with LHP Patrick Clyne striking out five while yielding one run on four hits over 6.0 innings in notching the win.

Manhattan returns to action with a 12:00 pm doubleheader at Iona on Saturday, April 22.
