Buffalo, NY - Canisius defeated Manhattan 3-2 in the series finale between the teams at the Demske Sports Complex in taking the series.

The Golden Griffins improve to 31-19 and 14-7 in the MAAC while the Jaspers fall to 15-33 and 9-12 in the league.

Cyrus Senior drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to give Canisius the walk-off win.

In the top of the frame, Manhattan had fought back to tie the score up at 2-2. Senior Evan Brown (Asburnham, MA / Bridgton Academy (ME)) reached on a two-base error when the outfielder lost the ball in the sun before moving to third on a Matt Forlow (Sr., Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) sacrifice bunt. After the Golden Griffins got the second out, junior Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) tied the game up at 2-2 with an infield single while chasing home pinch-runner Adam Genners (Jr., Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep).

Canisius had taken a 2-1 lead in the seventh on a Jake Burlingame solo home run.

The visitors, which spotted the Golden Griffins a first-inning run, dented the scoreboard for the first time in the top of the fourth as sophomore Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) led off with a double before moving to third on a Brown sacrifice bunt. Forlow then plated Pena with a sacrifice fly to right.

Senior Jason Patnick (Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley) and junior Brandon Valls (Miami, FL / Dean CC) each singled and drew a walk to pace a six-hit Manhattan offensive effort

Senior RHP Joey Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) was solid on the bump, yielding two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts over 6.1 innings.

Mark McKenna was 3-for-4 to led the way for Canisius while Tyler Smith struck out two over 1.1 innings in collecting the win.

The Jaspers return to action on Thursday, May 18 with a 12:00 pm doubleheader against Saint Peter's at Dutchess Stadium.
