Clarke Takes Second In Long Jump at USATF Club Championships
NEW YORK – Two weeks after completing his Manhattan College career at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) took part in his first post-collegiate competition at the annual USATF National Club Championships at Ichan Stadium on Randal's Island over the weekend. Competing unattached, he finished second in the long jump with a leap of 7.55 meters (24 feet, 9¼ inches).
Volunteer Assistant Coach Kelton Cumberbatch also participated in the meet, placing third in the 400 meter hurdles and running a leg on the Shore Athletic Club's victorious 4x400 meter relay. In addition, Winston George, a two-time Guyanese Olympian who trains under Associate Head Coach Joe Ryan, won three gold medals in the 200 meters, 400 meters and 4x100 meter relay. George runs for the Central Park Track Club.
