WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Lili Johnson(Tulsa, Okla.) of the Manhattan College women's tennis team won a pair of matches in the consolation draw at the Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Yale University's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Johnson began the day with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over NJIT's Nina Myevska. In the second round of the consolation draw, Johnson faced Columbia's Carling Donovan and posted a 6-3, 6-2 win to move into the consolation quarterfinals.
In the consolation quarterfinals, Johnson received a walkover from Albany's Livia Gherman. Unfortunately, since the consolation semifinals are scheduled for Monday afternoon, Johnson had to default her match in order to return to Manhattan for classes.
"Overall, I was pleased with our performance this weekend," Head Coach Scott Blumbergsaid. "It was a good experience for our freshmen, and I felt they played well."
The ITA Regionals concluded Manhattan's fall schedule. The Lady Jaspers (2-2) begin the regular season on Feb. 7, when they visit Navy.
