Amanda McEntire Named Head Women’s Tennis Coach
RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Amanda McEntire has been named head coach of the Manhattan College women’s tennis program, it was announced today by Athletic Director Bob Byrnes. McEntire is a 2002 graduate of the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Longhorns’ women’s tennis team.
“I’m extremely pleased with Amanda’s decision to take on this coaching position,” Byrnes said. “Amanda’s work ethic, attitude, and desire to provide the best experiences for our student-athletes will be seen in our women’s tennis team going forward.”
While at Texas, McEntire helped Head Coach Jeff Moore’s squad win consecutive Big 12 regular season and tournament titles. The Longhorns also advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament each year she was with the program.
In addition, she spent four years working with the United States Tennis Association (USTA)-sponsored Zonals Tennis Tournament in Austin, Texas, serving as tournament director for two years. As tournament director, McEntire organized and oversaw the five-day event, which was played at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center, Texas’ home facility, and featured 160 participants from across the United States and Puerto Rico.
