Men, Women Both Picked Third In MAAC Preseason Poll
RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan College men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams were both picked third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Poll. The Jasper women are coming off a third-place finish at the MAAC Indoor Championships, while the men’s squad placed fourth indoors.
Manhattan earned 47 points in the men’s poll. Indoor champion Rider was picked first with four first-place votes and 60 points, while defending outdoor champion Monmouth received the other four first-place votes and 59 points. Iona was fourth in the poll with 42 points, followed by Saint Peter’s (26), Canisius (23), Marist (18) and Siena (13).
On the women’s side, the Jaspers received 77 points in the poll. Monmouth, which won the MAAC indoor title, collected nine of the 10 first-place votes and 99 points. Rider claimed the other first-place vote and finished with 91 points, while Quinnipiac ended up fourth with 73 points. Rounding out the poll were Iona (60), Marist (50), Siena (32), Canisius (24), Niagara (24) and Saint Peter’s (20).Last season, the men’s team finished second and the women were fourth at the MAAC Outdoor Championships. The Jaspers begin the outdoor season this weekend at the Dennis Craddock Carolina Relays in Chapel Hill, NC.
