Cosgrove, Forlow Earn Weekly MAAC Honors
Edison, NJ - Junior LHP Tom Cosgrove (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) has been named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week for the second-straight week while senior Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) was named MAAC Player of the Week after the duo helped power Manhattan to a three-game sweep over Saint Peter's.
Cosgrove struck out six while yielding just four hits over 6.0 scoreless frames in picking up the win over Saint Peter's in game two. The Staten Island native needed just 61 pitches in extending his scoreless innings streak to 14.1 innings.
On the year, he is now 5-6 with a MAAC-leading 99 strikeouts, four complete games and a 4.19 ERA while limiting opposing hitters to a .264 average.
Cosgrove's MAAC-leading strikeout total of 99 is third in the all-time Jasper single-season annals behind just former Milwaukee Brewer farmhand Chris Cody (105) and former St. Louis Cardinal Mike Parisi (104).
Forlow hit .727 (8-for-11) with seven runs, five RBI, three walks, two stolen bases, one double, one triple and home run last weekend.
In the opener, he was 3-for-4 with four runs, two walks and a steal while finishing a home run shy of the cycle. In the nightcap, Forlow went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. He then capped his big performance by going 2-for-3 with a home run, stolen base, walk and two RBI in the finale.
On the year, Forlow is hitting .308 (52-for-169) with 33 runs, 10 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 30 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
