LEXINGTON, KY – Two members of the Manhattan College men's outdoor track & field team took part in the NCAA East Preliminary Round at the UK Track & Field Complex on Thursday.  Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) finished 33rd in the hammer throw, while Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) was 39th in the long jump.

Heavy rain delayed the start of the hammer throw competition from the afternoon to the early evening.  Litzell, who was making his third career NCAA Preliminary Round appearance, had a foul on his first attempt before getting out to a distance of 60.66 meters (199 feet) on his second throw.  That would prove to be his best effort, but it wasn't enough for him to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Clarke, meanwhile, had his best jump in the first round.  That mark of 6.93 m (22'9) would prove to be his only legal effort.  Clarke, who entered the meet seeded 45th, moved up six places and finished 39th.  He also improved on his 45th-place showing at last year's NCAA Prelims.
