Manhattan Announces 2017 Schedule
Riverdale, NY - Manhattan College Head Women's Soccer Coach Brendan Lawler has announced the program's 2017 schedule.
"This year's schedule adds some new challenges to our regular non-conference rivalries," said Lawler. "We are excited for these challenges and know they will prepare us for a conference slate that gets tougher every year."
The Jaspers return 21 letterwinners, including nine starters, led by senior tri-captains Nicole Aylmer (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland), Emily Center (Altamont, NY / Guilderland) and Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa).
* Manhattan's seven-game non-conference schedule will pit the squad against teams from six different conferences, including the America East, Atlantic Sun, Atlantic 10, NEC, SoCon and Summit.
*The Jaspers will begin the 2017 season at home against A-Sun representative NJIT on Friday, August 18 at 7:00 pm and are 4-0, all-time, against the Highlanders.
* Manhattan will host Fordham on Friday, August 25 at 7:00 pm in the annual Battle of the Bronx before also welcoming Summit League affiliate IUPUI (Friday, September 1) and Southern Conference member VMI (Friday, September 8) to Gaelic Park.
*The Jaspers' non-conference road slate will consist of games at Binghamton (Sunday, August 20), Hartford (Sunday, August 27) and LIU Brooklyn (Sunday, September 10).
*During MAAC play, Manhattan will host Siena (Saturday, September 23), Iona (Wednesday, September 27), Saint Peter's (Wednesday, October 4), Canisius (Wednesday, October 11) and Rider (Saturday, October 21).
*The Jaspers' road schedule consists of games at Niagara (Wednesday, September 20), Marist (Saturday, September 30), Monmouth (Saturday, October 7), Fairfield (Saturday, October 14) and Quinnipiac (Wednesday, October 18).
* For the first time since the 2013 season, Manhattan will play the MAAC Championships in Lake Buena Vista, FL. All 11 schools will qualify for the four-round event.
* The First Round will be held on Friday, October 28 and the quarterfinals on Saturday, October 29. After a day off, the semifinals will be contested on Monday, October 31 and the Championship on Tuesday, November 1.
