RIVERDALE, N.Y. Former Manhattan baseball standout Chris Cody ’06 was recently named Milwaukee Brewers Organizational Pitcher of the Year by MLB.com. Cody was promoted to the Brevard County Manatees of the Class A+ Florida State League and led the organization with a 1.81 ERA.

Cody, a left-hander from Brewster, N.Y.,  began the 2008 season with the West Virginia Power, a Class A affiliate of the Brewers of the South Atlantic League. During his tenure with the Power, Cody posted a 2-1 record, 1.74 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 31 innings of work. Cody was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week on June 2.

Cody is currently playing for the West Oahu Canefires of the Hawaii Winter Baseball League, an assignment by the Brewers organization.

Cody tossed a complete game, struck out seven and allowed one run, guiding Manhattan to a 4-1 victory over current New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain.
