RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College volleyball team (7-17, 3-11 MAAC) concludes its season-long five-match homestand on Saturday when Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Iona (9-15, 6-8 MAAC) visits Draddy Gymnasium at 11 a.m.  On Sunday, the Lady Jaspers hit the road for a 2 p.m. matchup at Loyola (12-17, 7-7 MAAC).

The Lady Jaspers enter this weekend looking to snap a four-match losing streak.  Diane Strutner (San Jose, Calif.) paces Manhattan with 2.73 kills per set and ranks second on the team with 3.52 digs per set.  Julie Bies (Massapequa, N.Y.) averages a team-leading 3.55 digs per set.  Rita Welsh (Collegeville, Pa.) leads the MAAC with 1.07 blocks per set and is ninth in the league with a .268 hitting percentage.  Laura Bellotti (Dix Hills, N.Y.) has handed out a team-high 488 assists, while Jamie Collareta (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) leads the Lady Jaspers with 6.19 assists per set.

Iona has won its last three matches, including a pair of road victories over Saint Peter's and Marist last weekend.  Four different Gaels average at least 2.23 kills per set, led by Sarah Wiener's 2.80 kills per set.  Molly O'Shea averages 2.23 kills per set and ranks second in the MAAC with a .313 hitting percentage.  She also leads the team with 0.95 blocks per set.  Colleen Genett averages 2.29 kills per set and ranks third in the MAAC with a hitting percentage of .302.  Nicole Tamburri dishes out 7.95 assists per set, while Alyssa Erickson distributes 6.00 assists per set.  Allison Nieters, the two-time defending MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, ranks second in the MAAC with 5.20 digs per set.

Loyola split the Western New York trip last weekend, knocking off Canisius after falling to Niagara.  The Greyhounds, who host first-place Fairfield on Saturday, are currently in fifth place, two wins out of MAAC Tournament-qualifying position.  Nina Camaioni is second in the MAAC and 19th in the nation with 4.39 kills per set.  She also ranks second in the conference with 4.70 points per set.  Karlee Woodward averages 2.38 kills per set and ranks fourth in the MAAC with a .296 hitting percentage.  Aubrey Kirven ranks third in the conference with 9.53 assists per set, while Brittany Born leads the Greyhounds with 3.83 digs per set.

This is the first meeting of the season between Manhattan and Iona.  The teams split the season series in 2008, with each squad winning on its home floor.  Manhattan's victory over the Gaels at Draddy Gymnasium was a dramatic five-set triumph that went to 25-23 in the fifth set.  On Oct. 4, the Lady Jaspers won the final set 15-13 to hold off a Loyola comeback and post a five-set victory.
