GENERAL: Tough, hard working player who has improved his speed and strength in the offseason... one of the fastest players in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference... two-sport athlete who is also a member of the Manhattan Indoor Track & Field team... becoming a more complete hitter after improving his mechanics at the plate... has shortened swing and can use the whole field.

2011: Started 44 of 51 appearances... led the team with a .500 batting average in the MAAC Tournament, and scored three runs, drove in three RBI and homered in the game two victory over Siena (5/27)... finished with 35 hits, 27 runs scored, 22 RBI and nine stolen bases... registered four doubles, one triple and three home runs... had six multi-hit games and five multi-RBI contests... started 19 of 21 MAAC appearances, recording three of his four doubles and seven RBI in these league contests... hit .241, had a .345 slugging percentage and .331 on-base percentage...opened the year with a season-high six game hitting streak and held a streak of reaching base in nine consecutive contests... posted a career-high four RBI with a home run in a victory at NYIT (4/26)... drew 15 walks.

Appeared in 29 games, starting 13... posted a .254 batting average, .353 on-base percentage and stole seven bases... tallied 15 hits, including four doubles, scored 13 runs and recorded three RBI... registered five multi-hit performances, including a career high three hits in a victory over Iona (5/14)... started collegiate debut at #10 Miami (2/26)... notched first hit and went 2-for-3 from the plate in a victory at Saint Peter's (4/3)... stole two bases in a MAAC Tournament victory over Marist (5/27)... hit .313 in 14 conference games.

BEFORE MANHATTAN: Lettered at Patchogue-Medford High School under head coach Tony Frascogna... hit .348, stole 12 bases and posted a .488 on-base percentage as a senior and earned Coaches' Award... multi-sport athlete lettering in Track and Football... ranked 17th in the county for 100 meter dash, 19th for 200 meter dash and 41st in long jump as a junior... helped lead football team to Big Four Championship during junior year... four year member of the Patchogue-Medford Honor Roll.

PERSONAL: A engineering major... the son of Anthony and Alicia Vega... has a brother, Manny, and a sister Lisa... chose Manhattan for its excellent academic reputation.
