|Men's Lacrosse Jamboree Helps Give Back|
RIVERDALE, N.Y.- The Manhattan College men's lacrosse team got their feet wet on the field and helped give back off of it, raising $1500 for the New York City Chapter of the Special Olympics during their annual Men's Lacrosse Jamboree held at Gaelic Park on Oct. 16, 2010.
The three-team event, featuring the Jaspers, C.W. Post and Binghamton University, was highlighted by three exhibition games on the afternoon and attended by more than 300 fans.
"It was a very successful day as we were able to raise money and every student-athlete had the opportunity to see game action during the event," 14th-year Coach Tim McIntee said.
"Our freshmen got an opportunity to play against two great opponents and the fan turnout was amazing. The Manhattan College staff and players would like to thank our friends, alumni and parents for supporting the men's lacrosse program and the NYC Special Olympics."
Their first competitive action of the fall season, Manhattan fell to both squads by a 10-9 final, while C.W. Post finished 2-0 overall and Binghamton ended the day going 1-1.
The Jaspers open the season on Feb. 20th at 1 p.m., when they take on Big East Conference foe Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. It will be one of two local games this season featured on FIOS 1 digital cable television.
