RIVERDALE, N.Y. - According to the most recent NCAA national statistics (released on Feb. 7), the Manhattan College women's basketball team leads the nation in scoring defense.  The Lady Jaspers are allowing a mere 49.3 points per game this season.

The Lady Jaspers have held their opponents under 60 points in 20 of 23 games this season, including 15 games where they surrendered less than 50 and three games where their opponent failed to break 40.  Manhattan and West Virginia (49.8) are the only two teams among the 333 Division I squads that give up fewer than 50 points per game.

In addition, the Lady Jaspers have moved into the top 10 in the country in turnover margin (eighth, +6.65) and rank 25th nationally in steals (11.8 per game).  Individually, senior guard Abby Wentworth (Portland, Maine) is 18th in the nation with 3.1 steals per game.

Manhattan (17-6, 9-3 MAAC), which has won five straight and nine out of 10, returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Saint Peter's (3-20, 3-9 MAAC) at 2 p.m. on "Pack the House Day" at Draddy Gymnasium.
