RIVERDALE, N.Y. - On Saturday, April 2, the Manhattan College women's tennis team held a free clinic at P.S. 93 in the Bronx.  Over 50 students, both boys and girls, between ages 5-11 were taught how to play tennis using the USTA QuickStart Tennis Program.

The day began with a welcome by Head Coach Scott Blumberg, who introduced the team and stressed to the students and their parents the importance of education, as well as the opportunity to excel at both academics and athletics.  After playing a pair of intrasquad doubles matches, the Lady Jaspers took the court with the students, teaching them the game and showing the proper techniques.

The USTA QuickStart Program was started in 2008 with the purpose of getting children under the age 10 involved in the game.  It utilizes age-appropriate court dimensions, equipment and scoring instead of the standard racket and court sizes used by adults.
