RIVERDALE, N.Y. - After clinching its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament championship since 2006 on Saturday, the Manhattan College baseball team found out its NCAA Tournament destination on Monday afternoon during a team viewing party in Plato's Cave. The Jaspers (34-17) will head to Gainesville, Fla., for a first-round matchup with SEC champion Florida (45-16), which received the No. 2 national seed. The Jaspers and Gators will meet on Friday at 4 p.m. in a contest that will be televised live on ESPNU. Miami (36-21) and Jacksonville (36-22) are the other two teams in the Gainesville Regional. While the Jaspers have never faced either Florida or Jacksonville, Manhattan opened the 2010 season with a three-game series at Miami. In the series finale, the Jaspers notched a 12-7 victory over the No. 10 Hurricanes. Manhattan also played Miami twice in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. The double-elimination event gets underway at Florida's McKethan Stadium on Friday afternoon. After facing the host Gators, the fourth-seeded Jaspers take on either No. 2 Miami or third-seeded Jacksonville on Saturday. The winner of the Gainesville Regional advances to the best-of-three Super Regional the following weekend.
