RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Brennan O'Donnell, Ph.D., president of Manhattan College, has been selected to represent the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on the NCAA Committee on Academic Performance. His four-year term will begin on Sept. 1.  O'Donnell's participation on the committee will further promote the College's commitment to academic success for all student-athletes.

The Committee on Academic Performance was created by the NCAA in 2004 to administer the Division I academic performance program.  One of the committee's main duties is to determine the academic progress rate (APR) and graduation success rate (GSR) for every student-athlete in every sport at each of the NCAA's 300+ Division I member institutions.   The APR is published annually, and teams that don't meet a required minimum standard face NCAA penalties including the possible loss of scholarships and postseason bans.

O'Donnell is currently on the board of trustees at La Salle University and the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu), and has served as a board member for the Lilly Fellows Program and for Collegium, a consortium of Catholic universities that strives to strengthen faculty understanding of and participation in the mission of Catholic higher education.
