FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - The Manhattan College women's tennis team entered Thursday's match knowing that a loss would all but eliminate it from contention for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament later this month.  The Jaspers (5-10, 2-3 MAAC) made sure that wouldn't happen, upsetting Saint Peter's (8-11, 2-2 MAAC) 4-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

With the match even at 3-3, it all came down to freshman Alyssa Rosello (Garden City, N.Y.) at No. 6 singles.  In perhaps her finest match in a Manhattan uniform, Rosello came back after dropping the first set to take the second against Jessica Nowogrodzki.  Rosello then dominated the third set to capture a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 victory that clinched the match for the Jaspers.

Rosello also won her No. 3 doubles match, teaming with Christina Ton (Milipitas, Calif.) to defeat Joniesa Williams and Vanessa Vogel by a score of 8-2.  Saint Peter's evened up the doubles action when Jemila Brady and Linnea Enoh-Jansson posted an 8-2 victory over Hilary Valenzuela (Mesa, Ariz.) and Caitlin Bricketto (Coral Springs, Fla.) in the No. 2 position.  At No. 1 doubles, Lili Johnson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Brianna Turano (Nutley, N.J.) continued their solid play.  Johnson and Turano notched their third win in their last four matches, defeating Alex Livingston and Adiwa Ungurean-Halagin by an 8-2 margin to clinch the doubles point for the Jaspers.

Johnson and Turano carried over their solid play into their singles matches.  Johnson won for the fourth time in five matches at No. 1 singles, topping Livingston 6-1, 6-2.  Turano picked up her third victory in her last four matches, defeating Williams 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.  At No. 2 singles, Ungurean-Halagin beat Valenzuela, 6-1, 6-1, while Brady defeated Bricketto by a 6-2, 7-6 count in the No. 3 position.  Saint Peter's then evened the match when Ivana Grbelja posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Ton at No. 5 singles, setting the stage for Rosello's heroics in the final match.

The victory moved the Jaspers within a half-game of fourth place in the MAAC standings with two conference matches remaining.  The top four teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the MAAC Tournament.

Up next, Manhattan concludes non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.  Bryant (10-5) visits the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for a 12 p.m. matchup.
