RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Goalkeeper Christina Fiorinelli (Massapequa, N.Y.) of the Manhattan College women's lacrosse team has been officially recognized as the 2012 NCAA Division I leader in ground balls per game.  Fiorinelli, who played every minute in goal as a freshman, picked up 53 ground balls in 14 games, an average of 3.79 per contest.

Fiorinelli had at least seven ground balls four times during the 2012 season, including a career-high eight against Iona on April 18.  She's the first player in program history to lead the NCAA in any statistical category since women's lacrosse was elevated to varsity status in 1997.

A member of the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Rookie Team, Fiorinelli also finished third nationally in saves per game (10.21).
