RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College Athletic Department has added four new graduate assistants to the staff for the 2012-13 academic year, it was announced today.  Former Manhattan student-athletes Chrissy Gutenberger and Deena Sena have been hired as graduate assistants in business & administration and facilities & events, respectively.  In addition, Jessica Beavers and Michelle Rava have joined the athletic training staff.

Gutenberger graduated from Manhattan in May 2012 with a degree in elementary education and is currently enrolled in the special education graduate program.  A four-year standout for the Jaspers' women's lacrosse team, Gutenberger finished her career ranked second on the program's all-time list in both goals (164) and points (196).  She led Manhattan in scoring all four years and earned three All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) selections.  Gutenberger was the 2009 MAAC Rookie of the Year.

Sena, a 2012 Manhattan graduate with a degree in business, is now working towards a master's degree as a part of the College's five-year MBA program.  A four-year member of the track & field team, she was twice named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.  Sena also served as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Beavers received a degree in kinesiology and health from Iowa State University in May 2012.  She worked with a number of the Cyclones' 16 varsity teams, including football, men's basketball, women's basketball, gymnastics, softball and cheerleading.  Beavers also served as an athletic trainer for the football and wresting teams at Ames High School.  In addition, she was a member of the athletic training staffs at the 2010 Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Iowa State, and the 2010 and 2011 Iowa State High School Wresting Tournaments.  Beavers is doing her graduate work in the school counseling program.

Rava attended Marywood University, where she received a degree in sports medicine in May 2012, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in school counseling at Manhattan.  During her senior year, she worked with the athletic training staff at nearby Lackawanna College, where her primary sports responsibilities included football, women's soccer, basketball, baseball and softball.  Rava also has previous experience at Scranton High School and Baptist Bible College.  In addition, she was the captain of Marywood's cheerleading squad and has assisted at numerous cheerleading and dance camps.
