RIVERDALE, N.Y. - For the ninth consecutive year, the Manhattan College women's basketball team is set to participate in the annual Susan G. Komen New York City Race for the Cure on Sunday, Sept. 9.  The event, which is the largest annual fundraiser for the Greater New York City affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, will begin at 9 a.m. in Central Park.

The Jaspers will man the first water station during the 5K run/walk.  In the past, the team has also worked the pledge tent, accepting supporters' pledges and donations, and raised more than $15,000 for the cause.  In 2009, the entire squad and coaching staff ran the race and completed the course.

The Komen NYC Race for the Cure has been held annually since 1991.  Last year, there were more than 21,000 participants and almost $6 million was raised for breast cancer research.  To find out more about Susan G. Komen for the Cure or to make a donation, visit www.komennyc.org.
