RIVERDALE, N.Y. -  Manhattan College freshman Colleen Kavanagh was named MAAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday. Kavanagh helped propel the Jaspers to a 3-0 victory over Saint Peter's Saturday at Gaelic Park in their first league match of the season. She assisted the game winning goal, and on the defensive end contributed to the Jaspers' third shutout of the year.

Kavanagh, a native of Rockville Centre, N.Y., helped break the scoreless tie in the 19th minute when she notched her first career assist on Manhattan junior forward Janie Schlauder's game winning strike. She also played a vital role on defense in her seventh career start in the back. The Jaspers allowed Saint Peter's to fire only two shots on goal in the entire match.

Manhattan (4-5, 1-0 MAAC) continues its four game home stretch this weekend when the Jaspers host a pair of MAAC contests. The Jaspers welcome Rider to Riverdale on Friday at 7 p.m. and then face off with Loyola on Sunday at 10 a.m.
