Three In a Row For Rojeras
Rojeras contributed 30 points to the Jaspers' team effort, winning three events and posting two IC4A qualifiers in a span of little more than two hours. He started his day by capturing first place in the mile in a time of 4:15.47. Approximately 90 minutes later, Rojeras was back on the track for the 800 meters-and led a 1-2 Manhattan finish in 1:52.22. That time is the best in the MAAC and IC4A this season. Rojeras then ran the anchor leg on Manhattan's 4x800 meter relay squad that clinched the team title. The quartet's time of 7:45.53 was good enough to qualify for the IC4A Championships.
Manhattan has won six MAAC Men's Performer of the Week awards this season. In addition to Rojeras's three selections, Tom Bechert (Munich, Germany) has won the award twice (Dec. 11, Dec. 18), and Abdias Myrtil (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) was recognized once (Dec. 4). Andrea Nyback (Koping, Sweden) earned MAAC Performer of the Week honors on the women's side on Dec. 18.
The Jaspers are back in action at the Giegengack Invitational from Yale University's Coxe Cage this weekend. Competition begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and continues at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
