Fort Lauderdale, FL - The Manhattan Golf Team opened the spring portion of its 2016-2017 season at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate on the par-72 Fort Lauderdale Country Club.

The Jaspers finished the two-day tournament in 13th place (321-318-308) and shaved 10 strokes off their second-round total.

Manhattan was led by senior Connor O’Rourke (Jupiter, FL / FAU), who finished 45th with a +18 (77/77/80).

Junior Ryan Lynch was second on the squad and 57th with a +23 (239) (80/77/82). Fueled by a team-best 73 (+1), junior Charles Seward (Tampa, FL / Freedom) fired a +25 (241) (86/82/73) in taking 64th.

Freshman Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross) was one shot back of Seward in 68th with a +26 (242) (83/82/77).

Richmond captured the team title.

Manhattan returns to action at the Wildcat Invitational on Monday, March 27.
