Golf Tied For Sixth After Day One Of The MAAC Championship
Lake Buena Vista, FL - Manhattan sits in a tie for sixth place after carding a 315 (+27) on day one of the MAAC Golf Championship at the par 72, 6690-yard Disney Magnolia Golf Course.
Junior Charles Seward (Tampa, FL / Freedom) finished in a tie for 11th with an opening round 77 (+5) with senior Connor O'Rourke (Jupiter, FL / FAU) one shot back in 14th with a 78 (+6).
The trio of junior Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, FL / Park Vista), classmate Johnny Schob (Old Tappan, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) and freshman Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross) all recorded rounds of 80 (+8) in finishing in a tie for 19th.
Siena finished day one of the event with a 309 (+21) with Monmouth three shots back with a 312 (+24), followed by the trio of Rider, Iona and and Fairfield in third with a 313 (+25). Manhattan and Fairfield are tied for sixth with their aforementioned 315 (+27). Rounding out the field is Canisius in eighth with a 320 (+32) and Niagara in ninth with a 330 (+42).
Jake Holt of Siena and Ryan Rodriguez of Saint Peter's each carded low rounds for the day with each recording marks of 74 (+2).
Shortell will kick off round two for the Jaspers at 8:15 am.
