Fayetteville, Ark. (March 14, 2008) ? Manhattan College senior shot putter Milan Jotanovic today won a bronze medal at the NCAA Indoor Championships, setting a school record and indoor personal best in the process with his mark of 19.64m.
A habitual participant at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships during his career at Manhattan, the third place finish at this year's NCAA Indoors marks Jotanovic's best finish ever at an NCAA Championship. Last season, Jotanovic finished fourth at the indoor championships.
In taking bronze, Jotanovic becomes an NCAA All-American for the third consecutive year.
Jotanovic achieved his 19.64 mark on his next to last of six throws. He finished third behind gold medalist Ryan Whiting, an Arizona State sophomore, and silver medalist Russ Winger, a senior at Idaho State Winger's mark was 21.73m and Winger's mark was 21.29.
Overall, the Jaspers finished in a tie for 38th at the NCAAs.
“This is quite an accomplishment for Milan and for the Manhattan College Track and Field team,” said Dan Mecca, Manhattan's track and field head coach. Impressively, Jotanovic's appearance made it 55 consecutive times a Manhattan athlete has gone to the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
