RIVERDALE, NY – This week’s ATAX Manhattan College Student-Athletes of the Week are sophomore women’s lacrosse player Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) and senior Fabian Mueller (Amtzell, Germany) of the men’s outdoor track & field team.  Both athletes were recognized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), as well.

Prestiano was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week after going 2-0 with 22 total saves in victories over Iona and Siena.  In the double-overtime win over Iona last Wednesday, she made 11 stops, including two late in regulation that kept the game tied.  Prestiano allowed just two goals over the final 33:41 in the 10-9 triumph.  She then had 11 saves in the 15-12 victory at Siena on Saturday.  In the two games, Prestiano posted a .512 save percentage and a goals against average of 10.19.

Mueller earned MAAC Track Performer of the Week honors after leading Manhattan to a second-place team finish at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships.  He won the 100 meters in a time of 10.77 seconds, making him the first Jasper to claim the Metropolitan title in the event since the 1990s.  Mueller also placed fifth in the 200 meters (22.62) and ran the second leg on Manhattan’s 4x100 meter relay squad that took second in 42.13 seconds.
