NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its all-region selections on Thursday, and two members of the Manhattan College softball team earned All-Northeast Region honors.  Freshman pitcher Nicole Williams (Ansonia, CT) was named Second Team All-Northeast Region, and sophomore second baseman Lauren Pitney (Ansonia, CT) was a Third Team All-Northeast Region choice.

Williams was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year after ranking second in the conference with a 2.04 ERA.  She also led the league opponents' batting average (.180) and finished fourth in the MAAC with 122 strikeouts.  Williams posted a 12-8 record and tossed four shutouts, including the first no-hitter in program history against Saint Peter's on April 12.

Pitney earned places on both the All-MAAC First Team and MAAC All-Tournament Team.  She started all 55 games at second base and led the Jaspers in batting average (.324), home runs (7) and RBIs (37).  Pitney also finished second on the squad in hits (47) and runs scored (35).  In addition, she ranked second in the MAAC with a .476 on base percentage.

Manhattan went 34-21 in 2017, equaling the program record for wins.  The Jaspers also qualified for the MAAC Tournament for the fourth successive year.
