2012: Played 10 games in goal seeing nine starts as a sophomore...was the team leader in ground balls with 41...recorded double-digit saves in five games including a career high 19 versus Binghamton (3/17) and Detroit (3/31)...finished the year with a 10.58 goals against average (GAA) and a .548 save percentage...ended the season with a 3-5 record

2011: Played in 12 games, making ten starts between the pipes in his rookie year...made his collegiate debut of the bench against Rutgers on 2/20 making nine saves...followed that up with his first start at Robert Morris making a career high 21 saves...had a goals against average (GAA) of 11.39 with a .506 save percentage...picked up his first career win on 3/16 at home over Wagner making 15 saves...made double-digit saves in five games...finished the season with a 3-9 record.

Before Manhattan: Rich Akapnitis is the career lacrosse saves leader at Hauppauge high school... The Hauppage, N.Y. native was a two-time All-County selection for lacrosse and also starred as a member of the football team. 

Personal: Son of Dawn Akapnitis... Has sister, Michelle... Majoring in Education... Served as a coach for local youth lacrosse and football camps... Participated in various charities such as Kicks for Cancer and the Special Olympics... Born March 26, 1992.
