Manhattan Duo Earns Weekly Conference Honor

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Junior attacker Brian McGrath and freshman attacker Matt Thistle each garnered Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly honors it was announced today by the conference.

McGrath (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was named Offensive Player of the Week as he had three goals per game scoring a total of seven points in Manhattan's 1-1 week. McGrath notched back-to-back hat tricks in games with #11 Princeton and Providence. During the Jaspers 11-9 victory over the Friars, the junior tallied three goals and assisted on another as he finished with four points. McGrath leads the Jaspers this year in goals with six and is second on the team in points.

Thistle (Chelmsford, Ma./Bishop Guertin) earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 5.50 points per game this week to pace the attack. In his first career game against a ranked opponent, Thistle scored two goals and added four assists to finish with a game high six points against #11 Princeton on Wednesday. He would then follow that performance up with a three goal, two assist performance in a 11-9 Jasper win over Providence on Saturday. Thistle is currently the team leader in goals (6) and points (11) while placing second on the squad with five assists.

Manhattan will continues their three game road stretch when they travel to Stamford, Conn. to take on Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m. before traveling to Chamblee, Ga. and Mercer on Tue., March 13.
